Step 8: Wing Center


Wing Center

Use the remaining 6″ (15cm) balsa strip as a measure, find the Wing center.

Glue the 2″ (5cm) wing center in place using glue stick to glue it to the tissue and craft glue to connect it to the wing leading edge.

When applying the glue stick be sure to do it against the table and not up in the air.

Step 9: Tail Plane


Tail Plane Installation.

Use only craft glue for this step.

The Tail Plane (rear wing or horizontal stabilizer) requires the remaining 6″ (15cm) balsa strip.

Apply a thin film of craft glue and press it onto the front of the Tail Plane tissue.

Snip off with scissors.

Pick up the motor stick so that the Fin faces down and away.

Apply craft glue to the bottom of the motor stick starting at the toothpick all the way to the back.

With the paper down add the tailplane. Make a guess to get it centered and to have a right angle.

Important: Press in place and set on a glass or table edge to dry.

Step 10: Wing Trailing Edge (TE)


Wing Trailing Edge Installation.

The Wing Trailing Edge requires the remaining 12″ (30cm) balsa strip.

Apply glue stick along its length (place on table while applying glue).

Apply craft glue to the back of the Wing Tips and Wing Center.

Add the Trailing Edge carefully making sure the that wood to wood connections are made before pressing against tissue.

If there is any extra length of Trailing Edge, snip off with scissors.

Pick up wing carefully on palm of hand and trim tissue from trailing edge. Do not trim extra tissue at sides.

Step 11: Wing Handle


Wing Handle Installation.

Apply craft glue to the Wing Center. Be sure to get glue on the Leading and Trailing Edge strips of the wing.

Add the 4″ Wing Handle to the top of the wing. It should stick out roughly evenly front and back.

Step 12: Wing Shim


Wing Shim Installation.

Craft glue one of the balsa shards to to bottom of the Wing. It goes in the center under the Wing Leading Edge.

Which ever side has the shim becomes the front of the Wing.
