You may have noticed that my facebook account stopped working. No need to worry, it's not because I unfriended you. It's because my account is locked up.
I'm trying to negotiate with customer support but it's very kangaroo style and I'm not doing very well. If you're my facebook friend, perhaps it would be helpful if you sent a note to facebook to inquire about my account and mention that miss the ability to connect to me there?

Yesterday I was trying to view a video on my friend's wall in facebook. The sound wasn't working on my computer so I rebooted my computer. After my computer restarted and I restarted all my firefox windows, the facebook system said that I was logged out. When I tried to log back in, it said that my account was disabled.
I looked over their terms and I've done nothing wrong.
This is an important consideration when using social tools. Reliability. If you can't access your contact list and your data, then you can't depend on them.
I've been organizing a free community workshop at the Atomic Rooster Pub lately using the facebook event system so I will no longer use facebook to organize events. Please send me your email if you would like me to notify you of events in the future.

Last content posted in facebook
When I got locked out of facebook I was viewing videos on my friends walls. I had rebooted to try to get the sound working on my computer.
But the last content that I posted was this: It was a link on my wall to the gallery of pictures that I had just created. It is a picture of me and my friends doing volunteer work at an altzeimers ward. Alzheimers Volunteer Work.

Facebook risks
I've not heard back from facebook despite sending them several messages. Here's the messages I've sent so far:

I check my email and there was no note about it being disabled. I also
looked in the FAQ and have not broken any rules.
What's going on?

just went to log in to make sure that I was not mistaken that my
account was disabled. Here's exactly what it says:
Account Disabled

I'm sending this note from a different email client to make sure that
you are getting it. I've not received any type of response from either
of the two messages below.
I'm going to go to my Salsa lessons and will be back on-line in a
couple of hours.
Please fix my account. I have not violated any terms.

Hi,
The Facebook Team has received your inquiry. We should get back to you soon. In the meantime, we encourage you to review our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities (http://www.facebook.com/terms.php) for more information.
Thanks for contacting Facebook,

I'm still waiting for my account to be fixed.
Further details are posted here:

Obviously I can use email to organize meet-ups with my friends rather
than facebook but there is important data (such as recent family that
has come into contact with me) that I do not have information outside
of facebook.
You need a more reliable system.
I have no email saying why my account was locked (or that it was even
locked). I don't break the rules so this is a careless procedure.

It has been a couple of days now and there is still no explanation why my facebook account disappeared.
I've received no emails or anything indicating that is disabled or why.
I was logged in and trying to view a video on my friends wall. My sound wasn't working on my PC so I rebooted. When it came back, it reloaded all my Firefox windows and suddenly it said I was logged out. When I tried to log in it said that my account was disabled.
Do I need to open another account? If I create a new account can I consolidate it with my regular account when it is fixed?

I have significant connections in there that I don't have in my own address book (including recently discovered long-lost family).
This causes damage to me personally as some friends and family will worry as to why my profile disappeared. I have been phoned by family because I did not learn that my grandmother died last night because my profile disappeared and it took time for people to realize it and resort to telephone.
This is a very disruptive and careless action.
At this time I am searching the internet for people that can help me. I've just added one to the TO field above but I will search for more and try to get some support and help.

Note to a couple of media and other friends, CCing facebook of course
I think that facebook is a pretty cool and useful system but there is a large vulnerability that I think people should know about.
If they choose to disable your account it can isolate you from contacts and information. Especially for contacts that are in facebook but not in your email or personal address book.
There was no notice or known reason why this happened in my particular case so disruption is maximized. Further, other people that know me are not informed so they are either worrying about why I disappeared or thinking that I have "unfriended" or blocked them.
I'm still waiting to hear back from facebook on what happened to my account and all the data that I have painstakingly added to the system.

I am still waiting to hear back.
Can someone please get back to me and tell my why my facebook account is disabled and help fix it?
It has been days. You locked the account on Nov 12 and it is now the 18th.
Thanks,
Darcy Whyte

Facebook:
I'm just going through your document for people who've been disabled at http://
www.facebook.com/help.php?page=45
It says this:
"Your account was disabled because you violated Facebook’s Statement of Rights and Responsibilities, to which you agreed when you first registered for an account on the site. Accounts can either be disabled for repeat offenses or for one, particularly egregious violation. Facebook does not allow users to register with fake names, to impersonate any person or entity, or to falsely state or otherwise misrepresent themselves or their affiliations. We do not allow users to send unsolicited or harassing messages to people they don’t know, and we remove posts that advertise a product, service, website, or opportunity. Our Statement of Rights and Responsibilities outlines the types of content we do not allow on the site. This includes any obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit photos, as well as any photos that depict graphic violence. We also remove content, photo or written, that threatens, intimidates, harasses, or brings unwanted attention or embarrassment to an individual or group of people."
I don't see anything that I've done wrong so am puzzled why my account is disabled and also why nobody ever answers my email.
As I mentioned, the account stopped working right after a reboot of my computer. As soon as I loaded up all my firefox windows it logged me out and then said that my account was locked.
Could it be that your system erroneously thought that I was visiting pages too fast since firefox loads up the pages from the last session all at once?
Either way, shouldn't someone get back to me to tell me what's going on?
