Nice Squirrel from Heinz Stoffels from Monheim am Rhein Germany
I found these really nice pictures in the RCGroups forum. I'm still waiting for a flying report. Heinz gave a great tip. He said that he used dental elastics for holding on the wing.
George Clark's Miniature Squirrel!
George sent in this very cool video of the smallest Squirrel I've ever seen. Flies great!
John Cooper takes a look at the Squirrel
John is a model airplane expert from the Ottawa Community.
We had a chance to do a few flights and consider the various design choices. Its great to get review of the design from such an experienced modeller.
John has experience with kids so I value his opinions very highly! He does volunteer work for Cubs.
John's Web site is on scale modeling and is at scaleflight.net. He has quite an array of amazing models!
Here's one of several flights I did. It hit the ceiling and then went into the stands. John climbed up the wall to get to the rafters. Thanks John!
Excellent Resource for Indoor Duration Models
Visit IndoorDuration.com for an exhaustive resource on high performance indoor models. It is run by Tim Goldstein of Peck-Polymers which is an excellent supplier of model aviation goods.Slater Harrison on how to make a prop from a Coke bottle!
If you don't have access to a propeller, this is a great way to make one out of common materials. It is at the ScienceToyMaker Web site run by Slater Harrison.
Improved way to mount a wing on a free flight airplane
I've been working finding better ways of doing things and I found an alternate way of mounting a wing on a stick model. As you can see in the picture, I added a six inch piece of 1/16th inch balsa to the motor stick. I made it perpendicular and top aligned. This also works with one on each side of course, in which case you can leave the motorstick upsidedown on the talbe to dry so ensure that everything is top aligned.
Model Airplane Transport System
Here you see my Yamaha Scooter that I used to transport model airplanes. Note the bankers' box which is attached by a bungee cord. This was a great solution till someone stole it. (The bike that is) :( It was recovered by the police but they didn't get around to telling me (depsite telephoning once per day every day since it was stolen), till the storage bill was more than the bike's value. Rather funny, the police did more damage than the thief.
